New paintings: Loch Vaa and Avielochan

Here’s a couple of new colourful pictures I’ve just completed. One’s a different view of Avielochan and the other is Loch Vaa, where I’ve spent many a day trying to catch trout in past years.

They’re both now on sale at High St Merchants in Grantown.

There are also some new pine prints on the way. Will let you know when they arrive.

Otherwise, I’m working away on new pictures just now – new simple landscapes and fishy portraits. Will post some pictures when they’re done.

The start of craft fair season

This year has had two distinct phases: painting in the run-up to my exhibition, and now craft fair season in the run-up to Christmas.

The latter starts in earnest this week, with my first festive fair with Exclusively Highlands. This is at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness from Friday to Sunday. I’ll have my range of mugs on sale – Scottish Wildlife and Fly Fishing.

The following week is the Strathpeffer Art Fair, where some of my paintings will be featured in this annual extravaganza. More than 100 artists from across the Highlands will showing their work. This is a wonderful venue so this is well worth a visit.

I’ll be at Brodie Castle on Dec 3 & 4 for another Exclusively Highlands craft fair. Another lovely venue – my first time at this popular event. However, this one does have a £4 entry fee, though it does include mulled wine and mince pies. Unfortunately there is no disabled access.

And finally, it’s back to Eden Court for the last craft fair of the year on Dec 9-11. The final chance to get your Angus Grant Art gifts.

A complete rundown of places, links and times can be found on my Events page.

Make your Christmas presents!

I’m starting another round of workshops in the next few weeks – just in time for Christmas!

My silversmithing course (organised through the Cairngorms Learning Partnership (CLP)) is full up but I’ve got another jewellery course running.

It’s a one day session on Saturday November 12 and will focus on simple wire working techniques to make several pieces of jewellery. By the end of the day, you should have three pairs of earrings and a bracelet.

This one is also with the CLP but in association with the Spey Art Group (SAG). that means that it costs £45 for SAG members, and £55 for non-members. Materials and tools are included – just bring your lunch!

The workshop is at Inverallan Church Hall in Grantown and you can book through the CLP here.
