Carving and chrome

There’s a busy weekend coming up in Strathspey – lots of brilliant events for residents and visitors. I’m getting ready to run stalls with my mugs and pine prints at both. It’s great to be at local events – meeting old friends and new.

Saturday sees Carve Carrbridge, the popular chainsaw carving competition. It’s fascinating to watch the competitors create artworks out of massive pieces of wood. And Carrbridge is such a vibrant community – everyone turns out to support the event.

On Sunday I’ll be much closer to home at Motormania at Grantown. There’ll be scores of shiny vintage vehicles on display in the High Street, along with stalls and activities for all the family. I’m there with the Cairngorms Farmers Market, so there’ll be lots of food and craft to tempt you. Looking forward to a great weekend!

Craft in Carrbridge

Getting ready for the first craft fair of 2017 and it’s pretty close to home.

I’ll be at Bridge 300 in Carrbridge on Saturday May 20. It’s a big weekend of community events to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the village’s iconic Packhorse Bridge.

I live in Carrbridge a few years ago and it’s got a great community spirit so I’m really looking forward to this.

The craft fair is in the Village Hall on Saturday, 11am-2pm. I’ll have my wildlife mugs and the pine prints on sale.

There’s also a heap of other events going on from Friday to Sunday, including historical exhibitions and live music and dancing. Find out more on the Carrbridge website.

Hope to see you there!

Keep up with Angus Grant Art in 2017

This year is going to be a busy one for Angus Grant Art. I’ve recently had confirmation of a host of dates for craft fairs and a couple of exhibitions.

I’ll be travelling the north with Exclusively Highlands and also heading into new regions to exhibit my paintings with Art Aboyne. And I’m back at The Iona Gallery in Kingussie in the summer, for a joint exhibition with well-known painter, and my former art teacher, Campbell Bryson.

Find the dates on the Exhibitions page, and craft fairs on the Events and Workshops page.

But stay posted for more events and shows – I’ve got more plans to fill up the year!

At Eden Court today!

Just about ready to go at Eden Court Theatre… the mugs are out and the sun is shining on the Exclusively Highlands Craft Fair.

Angus Grant Art can be found in the Bishop’s Palace: you might see us through the window as you go in the main door.

Go right as you enter the lobby and keep going up the slope and then through the doors on right beside the fudge stall and right again into our cosy room of craft.

Doors open today from 12pm to 8pm… A chance for late night shopping?

We’re also here Saturday and Sunday.

Hope to see you soon!

Coo Cathedral

I’m off on my travels later this week – back on the craft fair circuit.

Angus Grant Art will be at Coo Cathedral near Aboyne on Saturday and Sunday for Exclusively Highlands event. I’ve never been there before so I’m really looking forward to it. The venue looks fantastic and I reckon there will be a brilliant atosphere.

It’s a great chance to go further afield with my work and meet new people.

Coo Cathedral is also the first in a series of events for me in the run-up to Christmas. This is the list so far.

Sept 10-11 – Exclusively Highlands, Coo Cathedral, Aboyne
Nov 18-20 – Exclusively Highlands, Eden Court Theatre, Inverness
Dec 9-11 – Exclusively Highlands, Eden Court Theatre, Inverness

You can also find the list on my Events page – hope to see at one of these soon!

Just in time for Christmas…

I’m gearing up to man a stall at the Creative Cairngorms craft fair at the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore this weekend – just in time for the start of Christmas shopping.

I’m delighted to be going – I used to travel all around the country selling jewellery at craft fairs and locally through the Cairngorms Farmers Markets before I started teaching. It was great fun visiting new places and blethering to people about my work.

It’s the Scottish wildlife mugs that’ll be on offer this weekend. I’ll have the beer steins, espresso cups and saucers, and a few latte mugs on sale – perfect for Christmas presents!

The sale is open on:

Saturday November 21 – 9am-5pm

Sunday November 22 – 10am-5pm.

There’ll also be beautiful craft on sale from other members of the Creative Cairngorms group.

Hope to see you there for a wee blether!
