Good first day at Brodie Castle, where I’m enjoying my penultimate craft fair of the year.

The Exclusively Highlands event is back on tomorrow from 10am to 4pm. Brodie Castle, near Forres, is a fantastic venue and a warren of rooms. Luckily there are lots of volunteers from the National Trust for Scotland to guide you and a very helpful one way system even if you do lose your way.

So as well as getting to see lots of lovely craft, you get a sneaky tour of the castle itself for your £4 entry fee. The only drawback is that there’s no disabled access – being a castle, there’s no lift, unfortunately.

I’m up in the Red Room, on the first floor. It’s got an elaborate wooden fireplace, a brilliant chandelier and a range of historic paintings.

If you look closely in the photo, you might be able to see me waving from the first floor – at the left hand window on the central section of the castle.
