You know I like a challenge and this project was a good one.
The clients wanted the Muckrach Stag picture as a splashback behind their range cooker – could I transfer the image onto a set of tiles?
Getting a consistent print on the flat surface of the tiles was a concern so I am really pleased with how this turned out. Admittedly a few practice tiles died in the kiln.
I used a fluxed transfer medium. When this is fired to 825C, it gives a glossy finish and provides an added layer of protection, creating an extremely hard-wearing surface. It means that the clients’ will enjoy the mural for years to come.
